Job Description: D.R. Diedrich & Co. Ltd., Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is seeking a Technical Director. The Technical Director is an integral leadership position reporting to President of the organization. Responsible for overseeing and managing the Laboratory and Testing Operations, managing the shipping function, and overseeing and managing the Health & Safety functions. This role has overall responsibility for leather production, product development, scale-up, processing, packaging, and quality control, both in the Q.C. laboratory along with the Health & Safety function on the factory floor. Primary responsibilities include: Identification and delivery of continuous improvement initiatives for the establishment of products and major brands; Develop and mentor team members in all technical aspects of the leather making processes; Responsible for the technical evaluation and establishment of formulations; Develop Standard Operating Procedures for all steps of the manufacturing processes; Conduct staff meetings and follow up with actions and deadlines; Review customer's specifications and ensure processes meet local and global standards; Direct and implement the Quality Assurance Program; Review and Maintain Regulatory files - understand changes in Environmental Legislation issues by EPA, DNR & local POTW; Manufacturing Capability Analysis; Implement 5S and Lean Technologies; Supervise plant trials & customer trials; Create effective partnerships with customers and resolve any issues in a timely manner; Management of the shipment department; Management of the Quality Control Department and Personnel; Assist in overseeing the management of Health & Safety and environmental policies within the plant in conjunction with the management team.

Qualifications: Requires a bachelor's degree in materials science, chemical engineering, or related field, plus 10 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience, which must include: 10 years of experience in Leather Manufacturing Quality Control, R&D, product development, quality control & project management; 5 years quality management in leather manufacturing.
